Let's make a dinosaur deal

Apparently Milo was reading, so Hana was eager to show him off to me on grandparent games. We looked at some of the three latter words and he read some but not others. He was half hearted about it, because he really wanted to see dinosaurs. It is all well and good to try to teach him to read but to Milo grandparent games means looking at the stuff he loves, which used to be trains and now is dinosaurs. He has learned numbers, the states, and reading from grandparent games, but, of course, grandparent games is not all that he sees or does in those areas. His skills have gotten stronger by using the more usual methods as well. So, now grandparent games matters to him with respect to what is unique about it. Dinosaur videos being one of those things.

So I offered Milo a deal,. I said he could see dinosaurs if he read 10 words correctly. This was a deal he could understand. He eagerly did what I asked. He missed a few, but clearly he has started to get it about reading. So we saw dinosaurs.

All this was amusing to me because 30 some odd years ago I remember having to make similar deals with a little blond haired girl. They always worked. The apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Speaking of blond haired girl, Mira appear on grandparent games a few days ago as well, laughing and smiling at ducks and monkeys. It was a pleasure to see her.
